The snowbird wave runs November through April, hurricane season covers June through November, and the daily summer thunderstorm sets its own deadline from roughly two in the afternoon onward. Read the county calendar before you pick a date
Demand for trucks and crews in Palm Beach County follows patterns that surprise almost every transplant. Winter, not summer, is the crunch: the seasonal residents arrive, the 55-plus communities turn over, and every mover’s book fills weeks deep. Use the table, then work backward from your closing or lease date.

The 2 p.m. rule
From June into September, an afternoon thunderstorm is the default forecast, not the exception. The sky is usually clear at eight, building by noon, and dumping rain somewhere in the county by mid-afternoon. The answer is not cancelling. It is sequencing the day so the truck is loaded before the weather has a vote.
- Take the earliest start your mover offers. A crew that begins at 8 a.m. has a two-bedroom loaded before the first thunderhead forms.
- Stage packed boxes in the garage or near the front door so loading happens in short, fast trips.
- Mattresses and upholstered pieces get bagged or wrapped indoors, never out at the curb.
- Keep towels and floor runners at both addresses. A typical cell passes in thirty to sixty minutes, and the work resumes.
- Lightning is the one true stop. Rain we can work around with covered loading; when strikes get close, everyone waits it out inside.
A named storm changes the plan, not the outcome
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and in most years it touches a handful of moving days at most. Still, when the forecast cone drifts toward South Florida, here is the sequence we run with customers:
- Call us as soon as your move date overlaps a watch. Early callers get the most options.
- Where possible, we pull the job earlier in the week. Loading ahead of a storm beats unloading after one.
- If the move has to wait, your shipment can sit in secure storage instead of in a house with plywood going up on the windows.
- Keep documents, medication, chargers, and insurance papers with you in the car rather than packed on the truck.
- Once the all-clear comes, rescheduled storm jobs go to the front of our calendar.
Condo towers run on paperwork
The buildings on Singer Island, along the Flagler waterfront, and across the bridges in Palm Beach almost all require two things before a mover steps inside: a certificate of insurance naming the association, and a reserved freight-elevator window. Many limit moves to weekday business hours, cap the elevator at a four-hour block, and route everything through a service entrance. None of it is a problem when handled early, and all of it is a crisis when discovered on move morning. Ask your building manager for the move-in packet the same week you book your mover. Route the truck around the county’s pinch points
Distance means little here; timing means everything. I-95 between Forest Hill Blvd and PGA Blvd crawls during both rush hours, and Okeechobee Blvd heading into downtown backs up from mid-afternoon. Southern Blvd moves better for runs out west, and Florida’s Turnpike is the reliable bypass when a crash shuts down the interstate. From November to April, add a third more time to everything; season traffic is real. A morning start beats all of it, which is one more argument for the 8 a.m. slot. A move from a Northwood cottage in 33407 to a house out in 33411, or from a SoSo address in 33405 up to Wellington, succeeds or struggles on exactly this kind of routing, and it is our dispatcher’s job, not yours, to get it right.
